Quick answer

The SEO Audit skill is useful when you need a repeatable way to look at a marketing site before deciding what to fix. Its public source describes five areas: crawlability and indexation, technical foundations, on-page optimization, content quality, and authority signals. The value is the order of questions and the prioritization of findings—not an automated promise that a site will rank.

What the framework can help you inspect

  • Whether key pages can be crawled and indexed as intended.
  • Whether titles, descriptions, headings, internal links, and image treatment support the page's task.
  • Whether content actually answers a searcher's question instead of repeating a target phrase.
  • Which fixes are likely to unblock more work, before spending time on surface-level edits.

It can structure an audit of a SaaS, ecommerce, content, or local-business site. It does not replace a crawl tool, Search Console data, backlink analysis, or human judgment about product positioning.

What it found on Tomako

We used this skill's checklist on the tomako.ai homepage, robots.txt, sitemap, and page metadata. Twelve of the 15 baseline checks passed, including robots directives, the sitemap, canonical, hreflang, image alt text, and structured data.

More importantly, it surfaced two concrete next steps: the homepage title (34 characters) and meta description (105 characters) were both short for the search context we want to provide. It also separated performance and backlink questions that need Search Console, PageSpeed, or specialist data from the checks that could be completed immediately.

That is what the test validated: on a real site, the skill turned a vague SEO concern into evidence-backed checks and a prioritized repair list. It did not make a ranking promise.

When to use it

Use this skill when you have a small site or a defined set of pages and need to turn a broad "SEO feels weak" concern into an ordered review. Start with a few pages that matter to acquisition or conversion, document the evidence for each finding, and assign a next action.

Do not use it as a substitute for ongoing performance measurement. When a decision depends on impressions, queries, indexing status, or backlinks, check the relevant first-party or specialist data source.

A sensible follow-up

For a content page, turn one finding into a concrete edit: clarify the search task in the title and intro, repair an internal path, or remove a promise the page cannot support. The site structure guide explains how those page-level choices connect into a wider information architecture.
